Quick-connect fluid fittings work by utilizing a collet with small metal teeth that grab onto the tubing when it is inserted, and a flexible O-ring that creates a watertight seal. To disconnect, you simply push the collet inwards, which releases the grip on the tubing, allowing it to be easily pulled out.
