A JIC (Joint Industry Council) fitting works by using a 37-degree flare seating surface to create a metal-to-metal seal between the fitting and the flared tubing. When the fitting is tightened, the flared end of the tube is compressed against the fitting's cone, ensuring a leak-proof connection capable of withstanding high pressure.
