JIC (Joint Industry Council) and NPT (National Pipe Thread) fittings are not directly compatible because they have different thread types and sealing mechanisms. JIC fittings use a 37-degree flare for sealing, while NPT fittings rely on tapered threads that require thread sealant. Adapter fittings are available to connect the two types if needed.
