NPT (National Pipe Taper) threads are designed to provide a mechanical seal by tightening the male and female threads together, while NPTF (National Pipe Taper Fuel) threads are designed to create a dry seal without the need for sealants, thanks to their tighter tolerances and interference fit. Essentially, NPTF threads offer a more leak-proof connection compared to standard NPT threads.
