NPSM (National Pipe Straight Mechanical) threads are straight threads, while NPT (National Pipe Tapered) threads are tapered. Due to these differences, they are not directly compatible and cannot be threaded together without risking leaks or damage. If a connection between NPSM and NPT is necessary, an adapter or a sealing method such as a gasket or O-ring should be used to ensure a proper seal.
