JIC (Joint Industry Council) fittings are designed with a 37-degree flare seating surface that creates a metal-to-metal seal, which typically does not require an O-ring. This design provides a reliable seal in high-pressure applications without the need for additional sealing components like O-rings. However, in some specific applications where extra sealing is desired, an O-ring might be used in conjunction with a JIC fitting, but this is not standard practice.
