The main difference between 1/2 NPT and 1/2 NPTF threads is that NPT (National Pipe Taper) threads require a sealant, such as Teflon tape, to ensure a leak-proof joint, while NPTF (National Pipe Taper Fuel) threads are designed to create a dry, mechanical seal without the need for sealant. Both have the same thread size and pitch, but NPTF threads have tighter tolerances for improved sealing.
